Your Questions, Our Craft
Lombardi's Engineering Team provides the customer-approved 2D/3D files to our master toolmakers. Together, the first step of mold design is laid out. The objective is to design a mold that is the most efficient, most reliable, and most effective at producing parts of the highest standards.
For molds required to produce parts with complex geometry, or with high volume manufacturing, we recommend molds built with pre-hardened steel. Pre-hardened steel is the ideal metal intended for these molding requirements, offering a lifetime of dependable service and production runs.
We also offer aluminum molds for more simple geometries and programs forecasted for a limited lifetime of use. Aluminum molds are a lower cost alternative when the engineering or manufacturing parameters allow it to be used.
Lombardi will provide routine maintenance for the custom molds in our possession ensuring serviceability throughout its lifetime.
We offer custom mold builds in the USA and in China. For US molding projects, a US-made mold can provide more immediate control and shorter lead-times. When timing allows, a China-made mold can be a cost-effective alternative where we build and trial the mold in China prior to shipping to the USA where it will be used in production. Either way, our customers will receive an A1 quality mold that has been precisely prepared by master toolmakers and supervised by expert engineering teams at both of our sites.
